Task 2: Production plan - LO5

Task 1: Summarising feedback/Evidence - LO5

The objective of this assignment was to create a news script for The Games Corner that would last 5 minutes. Each group was given a specific week to write about. The groups had to find relevant news for this week. Our week was week 4.

The target audience of The Games Corner are people who live in Sheffield and are interested in gaming. These people are ABC1s but could also be C2DEs as they will have some disposable income that will allow them to purchase a console and video games. These people are of both genders and are around the ages of 16 - 25.

The script we created is appealing to the target audience as we followed the style and conventions of a news broadcast script.

The feedback we were given was positive and we were told it was suitable for the show and was to a professional standard.

The only improvement we had to make was replacing one topic with a topic that relates to Sheffield, as SLTV is based around showcasing the community.

It was suggested that we added a section about a local developer who is based in Sheffield. This was done as we replaced a game release topic with news regarding Sumo Digital and their latest games.

The script also met the legal/ethical requirements/copyright/bias.

Task 3: Production schedule - LO4

Task 2: Feedback from SLTV - LO4

Task 1: Submitting script with questions - LO4

In todays lesson we will be talking to Vicky Kilby from SLTV in order to gain feedback.
To gain feedback we will be asking the following questions:

Client feedback questions
1. Was the script suited towards the correct target audience?
2. Was the script weighed evenly between both presenters?
3. Were the topics/subjects mentioned in the script suitable for The Games Corner?
(It was suggested that we possibly include coverage of news local to Sheffield; such as developments from video game companies in Sheffield and events.)
4. Was there enough variety in topics, (did they cover enough aspects of the gaming scene?
5. What improvements could be made on the script?

Task 5: Audience profile - LO2

Eric is a 19 year old boy who studies criminology at Sheffield University. He lives in student accommodation with two of his closest friends who also study the same subject. Eric has a part time job where he works as a waiter at a posh restaurant, therefore Eric is an ABC1 as he is has quite a large disposable income. Eric is an avid gamer and has played video games ever since he was 6 years old. His favourite games series are Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row as he is extremely amused by action games as they are fast paced and exciting. Eric enjoys playing games on his iPad that he bought with the money his part time job. Eric plays football for his local team, and whilst waiting at the bus stop he enjoys playing games such as Angry Birds and 8ball pool to pass the time.
